We wish your families a Healthy, prosperous 2014 New Year to be better than the last! I hope you enjoyed your Lovely Christmas! We were blessed to have the children and grandchildren and family surrounded with LOVE this season. To us that is the most important Gift to the Season. We were fortunate to be able to cook for Christmas Eve Dinner. We had enough room at the table for all of the grandchildren and all of us, and are excited for the new arrival to be here June of this year.
We also had our Annual Holiday Party with Family, Friends and Loved Ones. Cousin Dale makes the best Rum Balls & cake in town, Noreen with the lovely shrimp, & croissant cream cheese filled, Jill with delicious Meatballs, and so on and on. You get the picture, lots of lovely delicious beautiful and tasty rich foods that are with us during the holidays and that we all enjoy. With so much abundance we all have to think about giving back. I guess now it is time to get back to reality and back on a healthy routine. Some of us are trying to shed a few pounds we put on over the holidays or just maintain. It is so much fun to enjoy these specialities during the holidays and on occasions, so we don’t feel like we are depriving ourselves of what we love.
I hadn’t written a post for sometime as I was recouping and unfortunately caught a winter cold but was able to get my Winter Garden in before hand. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Garden doing well, since I had not the time to have nourished it as much as last year.
We enjoyed some fresh Collards mixed with Kale and some Olive Oil on the stove last night and it was delicious. Nothing taste as good as fresh. We are still waiting on the broccoli and cauliflower to yield a little more before harvesting. Think about a Garden or starting seeds this fall in preparation for your summer Garden.
I have noticed that with the garden I tend to eat healthier and crave greens when I haven’t had enough of them. It is still easier to just go out and pick our food from the garden.
