Nourishment to the Body or the Soul is a wonderful feeling of fullness. It gives us strength and energy to go on and accomplish goals it feeds us through mind and spirit. Enrichment is the development of something meaningful as in acting upon something you love or something you have done and you are enriched for the better by doing this. Revelation is an act of revealing or disclosing and this may develop over time. It has been an eventful week and month of August. Our garden is getting ready to end its summer cycle and almost time for fall planting. As we were very fortunate to have the benefit of a wonderful harvest this summer full of squash, cucumbers, peppers, chard, kale, spinach, lettuce and tomatoes, as well as many other vegetables. Eating healthy has been a way of life for us for sometime as garden growers. Next weekend we will start to prepare the soil again for our fall garden with the wonderful vegetables of green. They are always delicious steamed or cooked on the grill or put in smoothies which as been my mainstay lately.
Funny how you can be blessed with much but sometimes you are not able to enjoy in as in physical but you can enjoy it spiritually. This is how I felt as I wasn’t able to enjoy the abundance that was put on our plate, but I was spiritually full. I got to enjoy the color, the texture, and the smell of these beautiful vegetables and fruits but not the taste. Sometimes in life we get to see the beauty and sometimes we get to hold the beauty but we are unable to attain the riches of the meaning of it. Life doesn’t always go the way we wanted or planned, sometimes it takes a detour and you have no choice but to go with it and it makes you slow down. It doesn’t seem fair at times, life gets hard and we try not to get harder with it in our spirit, but to look hard at the life around us and take it all in and appreciate it. We have thoroughly enjoyed our daughter and her family visiting from Colorado and getting to meet my namesake Allya “Rae”. It is wonderful to see how in synch her parents are in wonderful parenting of their two beautiful children. It was wonderful to have our family together with their little cousins to meet and play together.
As the richness of the soul gets stronger and more contentment with age so leaves the feeling of having to please everyone and to be your authentic self. Some never find this. I find I cannot live without it.
I have fought cancer and have survived it. Here in Virginia Beach on March 19th at the Virginia Beach Resort Center they will have a dental community fundraiser for the Oral Cancer Cause Awareness for professionals which we are pleased to attend as VIP’s as invited by Linda Miles to hear Eva Grayzel speak. http://www.evagrayzel.com/about/bio I plan on starting a walk through the Oral Cancer Foundation to bring awareness for this cause of Oral Head and Neck Cancer sometime next year in Virginia Beach.
Oral head and neck cancer is the least talked about but the one that needs the most attention. With the funding as well as the awareness of it. People need to be aware of the six step screening process and if not ask your dentist at every visit. There are children as young as 13 years old getting this due to not knowing or asking. I have raised awareness with my own family & friends and several have been biopsied already. It rocks your boat & stirs your pot or shakes your world or jerks your chain, how ever you want to put it. If dentist and doctors were more aware of the symptoms of this their wouldn’t be so many misdiagnosed cases of this. It is important to get your dentist to check your mouth thoroughly for a cancer screening and if they don’t do it request it. Catching it early can save your life. If you have a sore in your mouth near your tonsil it isn’t always related to an infection or a swollen lymph gland. Be diligent and get it checked out. This is a revelation. I had major surgery in May and now have to gear up for chemo treatment to get rid of any rogue cells that may be floating around which is recommended by my tumor board. I am pleased to say that this is precautionary. I was told by my oncologist that I am in remission and am cancer free but to have the best long term outcome I will do as the board recommends, I have already endured cyberknife radiation while my daughter was visiting here with us and glad to have that part over with. With life you never know what will come your way and sometimes you just have to roll with it. Friends family will come by your side to help although some will totally ignore you or not talk to you. Trust me as a survivor I think I can speak for us that we would rather you contact us to see how we are instead of ignoring us. We are not contagious and I have found the only thing I value more than anything else as I have gotten older is kindness.
This month was my mother in laws 79th birthday as the best present my husband and I could bring her was homemade chicken and dumplings (his grandmother Nanny’s recipe) and some fresh collards out of our garden, along with a puzzle for her enjoyment. This month also marks my cousin Jay’s 56th birthday, my own 58th birthday, my oldest brothers 72nd birthday, my Uncle Jesse’s 91st birthday, my grandson’s 12th birthday, busy month of birthdays.
For my 58th birthday I thoroughly enjoyed the Vitamix that my grown kids pitched in to give me as now I am able to make delicious nutitrious smoothies with fresh items out of the garden. It was the perfect gift of love! ❤❤❤
